IS ACTIVE SITTING THE NEW ERGONOMICS?

Ironically, active sitting is a return to the old ways, movement.

Many of us believe that a good sweat in the gym for 30-minutes or so a day, for 3-5 days per week is going to keep us ahead of the health risk curve to enhance our general well-being. In many cases this may be true, but only if we maintain enough other general activity throughout our day to avoid the sedentary effects associated with static positioning.

TO SIT, OR NOT TO SIT, THAT IS THE QUESTION

The conclusion to not smoke seems pretty obvious, and when the media highlife research that suggests that "sitting is the new smoking", it captures my attention. Now many years after these terrifying announcements and a growing number of standing work stations have been employed, I am learning that standing is as bad as sitting, possibly worse. What gives?
